Internship Description

A Bay Area Nonprofit Organization is seeking a highly motivated individual to assist in developing a new Youth Empowerment program as part of their humanitarian work. You will be working under the supervision of our project coordinators to help design and implement a training program targeting personal and professional development through workshops, mentorship, and community engagement. The goal is to empower underserved youth in our communities so that they can successfully enter college/career and improve their chances of future success. 

The ideal candidate will want to gain experience in:

  • learning to develop a program from the ground up, create processes for implementing and measuring the effectiveness of the program, and coordinate multiple teams and volunteers.
  • Assignments are expected to be carried out responsibly and in a timely manner with limited supervision.
  • All work can be completed remotely.
  • Local candidates may have the opportunity to engage in in-person meetings and activities if they wish, provided all current health and safety protocols are followed.
  • Candidates who want to make a difference, have a professional outlook, good organizational and time management skills, and with internal motivation to do exemplary work should apply. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Help develop frameworks and systems to create the youth empowerment program
  • Help create a toolkit of resources for volunteers, mentors, and trainers
  • Help create curriculum structure and source materials for sessions and workshops
  • Coordinate communications between multiple teams, as needed and with support from the project coordinators
  • Work with Organization's fundraising teams to help raise money for this program as needed
  • Work with Organization's PR teams on outreach programs and assist with recruitment

Expected Outcomes:

  • Setting SMART goals, taking ownership, and driving milestone-based results
  • Create a well documented process and procedure using standard open-source tools like Google Docs and Sheets, so that any project participant can use to implement a future workshop series in this project 
  • Demonstrate this process while working on the pilot of this particular project
  • Make the process compatible for online delivery in compliance with public health and safety guidelines
  • Plan the process to be upgradable for future updates and automation

Requirements: 

  • High School and college students who are self-motivated, can demonstrate superior organizational skills with strong work ethic, and show strong commitment and passion to work for social causes will be considered. 
  • Experience using standard digital platforms such as Google Suite products (doc, sheets, slides), social media, etc.
  • Flexibility and personal accountability as we navigate the nuts and bolts of putting a program together
  • Minimum commitment - 8-10 weeks in summer 2021, ideal start date between May 31st, 2021.
