Software and Web Development Intern

We are a non-profit organization, established in 2006 with the mission to reduce the high incidence of diabetes and heart attacks in Indians and South Asians through culturally tailored, science-based, and lifestyle-focused services. The Center's AIM to Prevent™ program's revolutionary approach has helped thousands to lower their risk with comprehensive evaluation, expert lifestyle counseling, and personalized health coaching. The Center’s STOP-D program helps those with prediabetes or diabetes to stop diabetes in its tracks.

We are looking for Software and Web Design Inters to join our team for the AY 2021-2022. Applicants who want to gain experience in all aspects of the Web Design process. Student will have the chance to learn about the industry first-hand and have high accountability as they will be given high priority, real world tasks throughout the internship. Interest in medicine and initiative for health awareness, will be an added bonus!

As a Software and Web Design Intern you will assist to:

• Implement and maintain a user-friendly web application
• Write functional requirement documents and guides
• Implementation of security and data protection
• Experience with drupal as a programming platform is preferred
• Familiarity with web application testing and debugging
• Understanding of the entire web development process (design, development, and deployment)
• Must be self-motivated, have good organizational skills, be detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize.
• Learn to implement new functionality from provided requirements and specifications.
• Help Improve our front-end infrastructure, build UI components, and discover and solve issues
• Attending daily stand-up meetings, prioritizing tasks, and working with a sense of urgency to meet a scheduled plan to deliver value to our patients Desired Experience
• Support in building fast, responsive UI
• Previous experience in using modern front-end web development technologies and techniques, including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Angular2 or ReactJS

*Duration: August 1, 2021 – August 30, 2022 (Tentative start date: AY 2021-2022).

* Time commitment: Aug to June: 4-5 hrs/week. Summer hrs: 15-20 hrs/week.

*Stipend: none

Currently these positions will be remote to partially remote.

*Qualification: High School Student (Rising Sophomores/Junior/Senior)

Required Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Strong programming skills and web development environments, JavaScript, HTML-5, CSS

Desired Skills: Previous experience in website designing.

Soft Skills: Organizational skills, good communication skills
